Jawatan Kosong 2011, The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) a corporate body established to carry out promotional work world wide for the Malaysian Palm Oil (MPO) Industry invites applications from Malaysian citizens for the following positions. The Council has its Head Office in Kuala Lumpur and operates several offices overseas. We offer an attractive remuneration package that commensurate with your qualifications and experience.

1. DIRECTOR – MARKETING & MARKET DEVELOPMENT

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for developing appropriate strategies for market expansion, promoting MPO as well as generating comprehensive analytical reports on market opportunities. In addition, he/she will be required to identify and solve trade issues as well as update our market information data base. Candidates who earn less than RM1OK per month are not encouraged to apply.

Requirements:
  • A postgraduate degree in Economics/ Statistics/ Marketing or its equivalent with at least 10 years working experience in a related field.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication and analytical skills.
  • Self motivated, strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Competent in the use of spreadsheets and comfortable in undertaking presentations.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with high level of dedication
  • and initiative and is able to work under pressure.
  • Uphold good teamwork spirit within the division and provide training and motivation strategies to his/her subordinates.
  • Strategic thinking, market analysis skills, commercial awareness especially of global commodities and an enquiring mind are assets we look for.
2. SCIENCE & ENVIRONMENT EXECUTIVE (ENVIRONMENT)

Responsibilities:
You will report to the Director, Science & Environment, MPOC on issues and challenges related to the environment, sustainable palm oil production, certification and wildlife conservation.

Requirements:
  • Masters/Bachelors degree in a related science or a relevant professional tertiary level qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a closely related working environment.
  • Must be capable of working independently and lead a small team of junior executives in the above mentioned work areas.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Excellent writing skills in English, supplemented with good oratorical skills.
  • Computer literate and multi tasking capabilities.
  • Highly motivated, with ability to meet tight deadlines.

Job Interview Tips Practice

Prepare, a response so you are ready for the question "What do you know about our company. Know the interviewer's name and use it during the job interview. If you're not sure of the name, call and ask prior to the interview. Try to relate what you know about the company when answering questions.

Get Ready, Make sure your interview attire is neat, tidy and appropriate for the type of firm you are interviewing with. Bring a nice portfolio with copies of your resume. Include a pen and paper for note taking.

Be On Time, Be on time for the interview. On time means five to ten minutes early. If need be, take some time to drive to the office ahead of time so you know exactly where you are going and how long it will take to get there.

Stay Calm, During the job interview try to relax and stay as calm possible. Take a moment to regroup. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Listen to the entire question before you answer and pay attention - you will be embarrassed if you forget the question!

Show What You Know, Try to relate what you know about the company when answering questions. When discussing your career accomplishments match them to what the company is looking for.

Follow Up, Always follow-up with a thank you note reiterating your interest in the position. If you interview with multiple people send each one a thank you note.
